Who We Are /  The Kitsap Opera is an opera group in the European tradition in that we offer an intermediate step for singers between college training and major American opera companies.

Our Mission /  To give professional entertainment value to the West Sound region and afford Northwest artists an opportunity to perform major operatic roles.

In the Community /  Kitsap Opera showcases many West Sound artists which provides an educational outreach to the regions schools. We are indebted to local chorus and orchestra members who are the backbone of our company. Kitsap Opera is a member of Opera America, a service organization for professional opera with 2,450 opera companies, affiliates, and individual members located in the United States, Canada, Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and South America.

Kitsap Opera was founded in 1992 by Leone Cottrell-Adkins to bring opera to West Sound. We have given young artists of the area opportunities to sing major roles, a boost to furthering their careers. Kitsap Opera is one of the four continuous opera companies in the state.

Leone Cottrell-Adkins /  As Artistic Director of Kitsap Opera, Ms. Cottrell has produced (and usually conducted) twenty fully staged operas, starting with I Pagliacci in 1992. She has been in Who’s Who of the West many years and is a recipient of the Woman of Achievement Award by the YWCA of Kitsap County and Woman of the Year by the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce.

Past Productions /  2009 Il Trovatore, 2008 The Marriage of Figaro, 2007 La Boheme, 2006 Die Fledermaus, and 2005 Hansel & Gretel.
