Kitsap History Kitsap Opera was founded in 1992 by Leone Cottrell-Adkins to bring opera to West Sound. We have given young artists of the area opportunities to sing major roles, a boost to furthering their careers. Kitsap Opera is one of the four continuous opera companies in the state. Leone Cottrell-Adkins As Artistic Director of Kitsap Opera, Ms. Cottrell has produced (and usually conducted) twenty fully staged operas, starting with I Pagliacci in 1992. She has been in Who’s Who of the West many years and is a recipient of the Woman of Achievement Award by the YWCA of Kitsap County and Woman of the Year by the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce. Giuseppe Verdi's Il Travotore With a record of 20 operas in 16 years, we are now preparing to present Giuseppe Verdi's Il Travotore at the Admiral Theatre, Bremerton, Washington on June 5 and 7, of 2009. Il Trovatore has kept audiences coming the past 150 years. Despite its old fashion melodrama and often predictable music, it also includes glorious arias that are a challenge to the most gifted singers. Some of it is recognizable even to most, particularly the rousing “Anvil Chorus”. Performance Schedule: Friday, June 5 at 7:30PM and Sunday, June 7 at 3:00PM.
